Obituary of Robert W Crooks

Robert ‘Bob’ W. Crooks, 86, of Fishers, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at his daughter’s home. Bob was born July 3, 1931 in Angola, IN to Harry and Gladys (Barnhart) Crooks. Growing up in northeast Indiana, Bob graduated from Waterloo High School in 1949. He married his high school sweetheart, Marian (DeWitt) Crooks in 1950. He completed his BCT from Purdue University in 1951.


After serving in the United States Air Force, he attended Purdue University, earning his Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering in 1958 and his Masters of Civil Engineering in 1959. Bob founded ARSEE Consulting Engineers in 1968.


Among his many achievements, Bob was a member of the first class to receive the Purdue University Civil Engineering Alumni Achievement Award in 1994. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge of design and construction with others, teaching math classes at Purdue’s Indianapolis campus, tutoring architects in preparation for their licensing exams and mentoring young engineers and Purdue co-op students.


In his retirement, he enjoyed square dancing with his wife, working around his farm and rehabilitating John Deere two-cylinder tractors.


Bob is survived by his two daughters, Cheryl Lynn Crooks and Kathy Jo Crooks. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Pearl Crooks and infant son, Gregory Allen.


Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street in Noblesville, with a graveside service to follow at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
