James A. Smith , 85, of Noblesville, passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Riverview Health in Noblesville. He was born on February 27, 1936 to Edward and Marjorie Smith in Anderson, Indiana.
Jim was a life-long resident of Noblesville and graduated from Noblesville High School in 1954. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and attended Butler University. Jim retired from the Teamsters and Wonder Bread in 2004. He was truly a Jack of all Trades, working as a paper boy, at a Texaco station, as a Noblesville fireman, as a demerit clerk for the railroad, as a charter employee of Household Hazardous Waste, and as an insurance agent, just to name a few. In addition to his many talents, Jim was a belly dancer and also played a mean 1-string bass.
Jim belonged to the Noblesville Friends Church where he served as a trustee and member of the ministry and counsel. He was a Sunday School teacher. Jim helped his wife in her preschool and adored all kids. He was a member of the Do-Si-Squares square dancing club and served 2 terms as their president. Jim enjoyed his membership with the Noblesville Jaycees and loved the companionship of his fellow members of the Noblesville Lions Club. He was a 32° Mason and enjoyed Lodge 54.
Jim was a lover of life and his humor permeated his life. He will be sorely missed, but we're sure he is telling God some pretty good stories!
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Charlotte Smith; daughter, Jamie Isaacs; son, C.E. James (Melanie) Smith; grandchildren, Alex (Cory) Smith, Sam (Courtney) Smith, Robert Smith, and Ben (Jessica) Isaacs; great-grandchildren, Eli, Sawyer, Gavin, Adeline, and Lynlee; as well as many nieces & nephews, and many loving friends.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his grandson, Wes Isaacs.
Visitation will be from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Noblesville Friends Church, 1055 East Division Street, in Noblesville. A Masonic Service will begin at 1:30, with the Funeral Service at 2:00 pm. Pastor Katherine Murray will officiate. Burial will be at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Noblesville Friends Church, PO Box 375, Noblesville, IN 46061.
