Joseph Bennett Donahue , 86, of Noblesville, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at his home. He was born on February 21, 1934 to James and Catherine (Bennett) Donahue in Cranston, Rhode Island.
Joe graduated from Cranston High School and Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. He was hired as a sales representative for Anaconda American Brass in 1956 and became a regional sales manager, retiring after 44 years in 2001. Joe's career took him to Cincinnati, OH for 22 years and eventually to Indianapolis, IN. He was an active member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and remembered for his ministries to the food bank, furniture ministry, Right to Life, and volunteered at Handicamp (a Lutheran Disabilities ministry). Joe frequently donated blood and led the OLMC blood drive for several years. He was active for some time with the Miracle Place in Indianapolis and loved working with the intercity youth tutoring after school, taking the children to the zoo, and ball games as well as working with Boy Scouts. Joe took great pride in keeping in touch with friends, classmates, and former neighbors with phone calls and birthday cards. Joe was an avid runner, having accomplished three marathons and enjoyed backpacking throughout the USA.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Linda (Applegate) Donahue; five children, Patti Donahue (Paul), Catherine Donahue (Gary), Martha Klein (Michael), Kelley Wilson (James), and Robert Donahue; four grandchildren, Jacob Helms, Meg Giunta, Emma Klein, and Sarah Klein; step-daughters, Lisa Miller (Damon) and Julie Lott; and four step-grandchildren.
Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday December 29, 2020 at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Catholic Church, 14598 Oak Ridge Road in Carmel. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to the time of service at the church. Burial will be at Cicero Cemetery in Cicero.
