Alain R. Van Ryckeghem

Alain R. Van Ryckeghem, 55, of Westfield, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at his home.  He was born on April 20, 1962 to the late Daniel and Alice (Vandendriessche) Van Ryckeghem in Waregem, Belgium.  
Alain's family immigrated to Canada when he was 6, where he grew up as the son of a tobacco farmer.  Alain attended Sir Sandford Fleming College and received a Bachelor's degree in Entomology from Trent University.  A published and accomplished entomologist, he was a stored product entomologist, pheromone chemist, and technical director for Insects Limited.  Alain loved his dogs, Sammy & Coco, the outdoors, gardening, fishing and canoeing.  He was a keen observer of the environment (nature, bugs, and animals), and appreciated wildlife art.  Alain and his wife enjoyed traveling to many different countries experiencing different food, culture and wine.  He was an excellent cook and talented jewelry maker.
Alain is survived by his wife, Christina Van Ryckeghem; immediate family in Hamilton County; numerous cousins in Belgium; and extended family in Canada.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road in Noblesville.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Alain Van Ryckeghem Memorial Scholarship.  Please make checks payable to "Pi Chi Omega" and mail to PO Box 187, Fredericksburg, VA 22404.
