Alan VanderMeer

Alan R. VanderMeer, 75, of Noblesville, IN, and Fort Myers, FL, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in Fort Myers. He was born on March 1, 1939 in Leeuwarden Friesland, Netherlands.
Al worked as a Vice President/General Manager for Davidson Industries Inc., and retired in 2005 after 32 years of service. Al proudly served the community volunteering his time and talents serving on the board of directors for the National Association of Home Builders, State of Indiana Builder Association and the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis as well as the St. Mary's Child Care Center. Al was also an instrumental member of the Fort Benjamin Reuse authority. 
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Ruth Ann VanderMeer. He was a caring and compassionate Father to Laurie and Bob Gordon, Craig VanderMeer, and Curtis and Lisa VanderMeer. Al was known for being a fun loving, playful Grandpa to Robert Gordon and fiancee Carolyn Link, Andrea Hird and husband John, Cassandra VanderMeer, Anna VanderMeer, Katrina VanderMeer and Jonathan VanderMeer. He was a loyal and fun-loving brother to Ted and Linda VanderMeer, Frank and Kathy VanderMeer and Sister-in-law Arlene VanderMeer. He is preceded in death by his Brother Martin and Parents Klaas and Jinke Vandermeer.
Services will be held on Thursday March 27th 11:00 am at Crossroads Community Church, 14885 Greenfield Ave (S.R. 238), Fishers, IN with Pastor Scott Dean officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday March 26th, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road, Fishers. A private burial will be at Hamilton Memorial Park Cemetery in Westfield.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Crossroads Community Church Building Fund or Heritage Christian School.
