Alene Capps Urban

Alene G. Capps Urban, 89, of Elwood and formerly of Strawtown, Noblesville and Tompkinsville, KY, died April 7, 2011, in Elwood following an extended illness. She was born January 17, 1922 in Monroe County, KY to Emmit Brance and Fannie Bell (Cain) Thompson. She married the late John E. Capps on July 3, 1937 and he preceded her in death on May 14, 1984. She then married John E. Urban of Glasgow, KY. She was a lifelong caregiver and worked along with her husband on Craig's farms.
Alene is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, William and Rebecca Capps of Elwood; brothers, Wiley (Vicky) Thompson of Noblesville and Estes (JoAnn) Thompson of Indianapolis; sisters, Pearl (Mack) McGuire of Noblesville and Martha (Wayne) Cooper of Louisville, KY; daughter-in-law, Donna Capps of Indianapolis; 20 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; sons, Ricky, Charles, and Ollie Capps; daughters, Carolyn Capps, Zora Bell, and Clara Mahan; a grandson, John J. Capps; a great-grandson, Ed Jennings, Jr.; a sister, Roxie Spears; and brothers, Newman, Jess Frank, Marion (Junior), Miley, J.C., and Walter B. Thompson.
Visitation will be at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1685 Westfield Rd., in Noblesville on Saturday, April 9 from 1 - 4 p.m.. A second visitation will be at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, KY on Sunday, April 10 from 3 - 6 p.m. Funeral Services will be at Strode Funeral Home, Monday, April 11 at 11a.m. with Rev. Mark Hahn officiating. Burial will follow in Bailey Cemetery.
