Alfred J. Daniel, 71, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2012 in Indianapolis. Born in Overton County, TN on April 15, 1940, he was the son of Alfred and Christene (Smith) Daniel. A 1958 graduate of Muncie Central High School, Al earned a bachelor's degree in 1964 from Ball State University, where he met the love of his life, Bonnie (McElheny) Daniel, his wife of 51 years.
Al is survived by wife Bonnie, son Alan Daniel, daughters Teresa (Kent) Williams, Lisa (Bruce) Merrill, and Krista (Steve) Jackson; two granddaughters: Danielle and Hayley; and four grandsons: Jimmy, Joey, Jake, and Logan. Also surviving are Al's mother and his sister, Linda (Johnnie) Davis, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, brother, and a special companion, his dog Susie.
Al enjoyed a successful sales career in the steel industry for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. With his fun-loving personality, Al touched the lives of everyone he met. He had an inquisitive mind and always encouraged others to explore and learn. He loved golf, good food, music, reading, and sports cars, especially his red Corvette. Al will be forever remembered for his love of family and passion for life.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 7, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home in Fishers, Indiana, with Rev. Dr. Linda McCoy presiding. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, February 6. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent Hospice at give.stvincent.org.
