Anna Lee Merrell Barker, 78, of Noblesville, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at home. She was born on May 24, 1939 to Lee W. and Edna (Moreland) Rowley in Beech Grove, Indiana.
Anna grew up in Brightwood and moved to Noblesville in 1970. She retired in 1999 from the Kroger Company, where she had worked for 42 years, and was a member of the Kroger Lunch Bunch group. Anna was a member of the Refuge Christian Church in Noblesville; was a Woman of the Moose #937 in Noblesville; a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Eagles Auxiliary #1771 in Alexandria; and was past-President of UFCW Local 700 Retirees Club. Anna enjoyed volunteering with many different organizations and clubs in the area. Other past memberships include, Independent Order of Foresters, and charter membership in Indiana Freedom Cruzers Car Club and the Hamilton Charter Chapter of the ABWA (American Business Women's Association). She loved to travel, knit, and play Bingo; and bowled on many leagues from 1950-1990.
Anna married her childhood sweetheart, David Merrell, on June 19, 1955. Together they had two loving sons, Michael David (Tina) Merrell and Mark Douglas (Louann) Merrell. Anna and David were married for 26 years before his death on March 29, 1981. She was again blessed with a loving marriage when she met John F. Barker whom she married on October 15, 1994. She lovingly welcomed John's son, Anthony 'Tony' (Colleen) Barker as part of her family. In addition to her husband, John Barker and her three sons, she is survived by the six most precious grandchildren in the world, Nicholas Ray Merrell, David James Merrell, Madison Delane Merrell, Maxwell David Merrell, Rebekah Barker, and Charity Barker; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephew, and cousins.
Services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street in Noblesville, with Rev. Stanley R. Sutton officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Anderson Cemetery, 6501 E 10th St, Indianapolis, IN 46219.
