Barbara L. (Whelchel) Mills

Barbara L. (Whelchel) Mills, 89, of Noblesville, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at Lake Meadows Assisted Living in Fishers.  She was born on February 19, 1933 to Melvin and Eileen (McGuire) Whelchel in Noblesville, Indiana.

Barbara was a graduate of Fishers High School.  She was a florist who owned Country Garden Shop and retired from The Flower Market where she worked with her daughter, Cherie.  Barbara was a member of Clarksville Christian Church and Fishers Order of Eastern Star.  Barbara enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, traveling and reading.

She is survived by her children, William (Diann) Mills, Charla (Dr. Robert) Kurtz, Cheryl (Seth) Slomski, Cherie Query, and Philip Mills; siblings, Myrna Cannaday, Sandy Brandenburg, Jackie Wolf, Sherry Woods, Robert Whelchel, and Jane McCullough; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Whelchel and Don Mills; and her brother, Ralph "Sonny" Whelchel.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with an Eastern Star service beginning at 7:00 pm, on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street, in Noblesville.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Clarksville Christian Church, 16600 Lehr Street in Noblesville, with Dave Altman officiating.  Burial will follow at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
