Bernard John Murphy, 83, Sheridan, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. He was born March 14, 1926 in Fort Lee, New Jersey to Bernard and Helen (Moore) Murphy.
Bernard retired in 1988 after 25 years as a patent agent with the Ingersoll-Rand Corporation. He was formerly of Mountain Lakes, NJ (1959-1992), where he had been a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. He was a current member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Noblesville, and a member of the Patent Bar.
Bernard was an Army Air Corp veteran, having served at Iwo Jima and was a proud member of the Jewish War Veterans.
He is survived by his children, Constance Bergeson, Neil Murphy, John Murphy, Brian Murphy, Mark Murphy, Burt Murphy, Janet Donato, Margaret Paschitti, Elizabeth Carman, Christopher Murphy, Judith Olson; adopted daughter Sue Morton; sister, Marion Neiman of New Hampshire; 27 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Murphy, whom he married on September 17, 1949. She passed away in 1987.
Services will be held at 10:00AM on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, with Rev. Tom Metzger officiating. Friends may call Thursday, October 29, 9:00 - 10:00AM at the church, prior to the service. Burial will be at Madonna Cemetery in Fort Lee, New Jersey.
