Bertie Beitman

Bertie (Johnson) Beitman, 97, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Hospice House Of Cape Coral.  She was born in Madison County, Indiana on August 22, 1919, the only daughter of Byron and Kate (Huber) Johnson of Noblesville, Indiana.
Bertie attended Indiana University and was a member of Delta Gamma sorority.  She remained active in the alumnae groups in Fort Wayne (president), Indianapolis, and Fort Myers.  Bertie volunteered for a number of years for Allen County League for the Blind and the United Way.  She began her career in publishing at Bobbs Merrill Publishing, then later worked at Curtis Publishing Co.  Bertie retired in 1997 as Associate Publisher of Holiday Magazine, Advertising Director of Saturday Evening Post, and Vice President of The Country Gentleman Magazines.
She is survived by her son, Richard (Jeri) Beitman; three grandchildren, Janell Lenahan, Richard Beitman, Jr., and Steven Beitman; two great-grandchildren; and her companion, Col. Hal Grant.
In addition to her parents, Bertie was preceded in death by her son, James Leininger; her great-granddaughter, Eliana Beitman; and her husband, Floyd Beitman.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Monday, August 14, 2017 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street, in Noblesville. Graveside Services will immediately follow visitation at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
