Bessie Sampson

Bessie June Sampson, 93, of Noblesville, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2012 at Riverwalk Village in Noblesville. She was born on June 19, 1918 to Andrew Clinton and Lillie (Young) Woods in Lapel, Indiana. Bessie married John David Sampson on November 2, 1935.
Bessie was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Noblesville, the Noblesville V.F.W. Auxiliary, and the Noblesville Senior Citizens Center. She served as the biscuit maker for the Senior Citizens Center breakfasts for 25 years. Bessie was a member of the Silver Stars Bowling League until last June. She participated in mission trips for many years in Henderson, KY; volunteered at local nursing homes; and made thousands of pillow cases for children suffering from cancer through "Give Kids the World". Bessie was well known as an expert seamstress whose specialty was bridal gowns.
She is survived by sons, John C. Sampson and Gary (Patti) Sampson both of Noblesville; grandchildren, Lisa McCarley of California, Amy (Jeff) Glover of Carmel, and Maribeth (Barry) Shewmaker of Noblesville; great-grandchildren, Katie and Emma Glover of Carmel, Jordan Sampson of Fishers, Zachary, Nathan, Jeremy, Avery, Jill, Benjamin, Joseph, and Matthew Shewmaker all of Noblesville; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John David Sampson; grandson, Justin Clinton Sampson; and thirteen brothers and sisters.
Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street, in Noblesville, with Pastor Jeff Buck officiating. Visitation will be Friday, May 25, 2012 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm and from 9:00 am to service time Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.
