Betty Jean Teska

Dr. Betty Jean Teska, 86, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at her home in Fishers. She was born on May 16, 1928 to Irving and Gladys Murfett in Monrovia, California.
Betty worked as a school psychologist for Tri-County Schools in the Special Education department for many years. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Mills College, her Master's degree from Redlands University, and her Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma. Betty was a devoted wife and mother who had a passion for wildlife and the environment, as well as politics.
She is survived by her children, Liana L. (Pete) Kowalzik, Adina A. (Mark Pfeiffer) Teska, Alan A. (Ha-Yee) Teska, and Jennifer J. (Randy) Edmonds; grandchildren, Thalia, Ilia, Cambria, John, Kaitlin, Amanda, Sam, Alyssa, and Megan; and her dog, Obie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Teska; and her siblings, Edward, Lorraine, and Arnold.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road, Fishers, with visitation from noon until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.
