Betty L. Woods

Betty L. Woods, 80, of Noblesville, passed away on what would have been her husband, Al's 94th birthday, Monday, February 4, 2019 at Five Star Residences of Noblesville.  She was born on July 25, 1938 to Frank and Georgia Ward Parris in Greene County, Indiana.

For 17 years, Betty worked in Accounts Payable for Roche Diagnostics.  Before that, she worked many years at Aero Drapery.  She still had many of those friends from work when she died.  Betty's days started and ended with strong, black coffee; she was fiercely independent and had a very sharp sense of humor. She had already started making new friends and trying new things in her new residence. After a difficult move, several of the staff at Five Star had shared how much they grew to love Betty's special brand of humor and independence in the short time that she lived there, and that she had become a favorite resident.  Betty enjoyed going to amateur theatre, volunteering in the theatre, puttering in the yard, planting flowers, listening to Tom Jones music, and enthusiastically attended her grandchildren's sporting and musical activities.  Betty fought to live as long as she could, and even in her illness loved Tom Jones music, country music, shopping but never purchasing, and dogs.  She always missed her husband, Al, as much on her last day as the day he died.

Betty is survived by her sons, Michael (Sondra) Pearson and Allen (Jennie) Woods; step-daughter, Penny Mullins; siblings, Diana Ward, Sharon Ward, Shirley Cox, Janie Ward, and Frank Ward Jr.; and two grandchildren, Alden Woods and Bailie Woods.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Albert C. Woods; her sister, Delores Bauguess; and her infant sister, Norma Jean Ward.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street in Noblesville, with visitation from 11:00 am to the time of service.  Betty's sister, Shirley Cox will officiate.  Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 5635 West 96th Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278; or American Lung Association of Indiana, 115 West Washington Street, Suite 1180-South, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
