Brooks Lee Blackmore, 6, of Carmel, was received into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at home, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born on December 20, 2009 to Joshua Lee and Tracey Elaine (McCarroll) Blackmore in Carmel.
Brooks had an infectious smile that lit up a room. He taught us all how to be brave and to have faith over fear. He lived in the now, loved deeply, and touched countless lives through the course of his journey. Brooks belonged to Northview Church in Carmel, where he graduated from preschool. He attended pre-K at Kindergarten Connection for a year, and was currently attending kindergarten at Cherry Tree Elementary School in Carmel. Brooks's favorite foods included cheese pizza, salami, General Tso's chicken, yogurt with M&M's, lemonade, apple juice, brownies and candy. He loved sports and excelled at soccer, basketball and baseball (where he was awarded the Star Player of the Game). He also found time for other activities that he enjoyed, such as Lego's, Hot Wheels, monster trucks and video games. A favorite of his was going for walks with mommy & daddy hunting for that perfect rock, shell or leaf. His great sense of humor and kind heart made others want to always be around him. He did not know a stranger.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his younger brother & sister (twins), Ellery & Rory Blackmore; maternal grandparents, John & Jan McCarroll; paternal grandparents, Lee Blackmore and Jeanne & John Videmschek; great-grandparents, Angelo Postol and Lois Pauline Weishaar; aunts & uncles, Tara (Gene) Lindley, Tammy (Brian) Hartley, Tyler (fiancé Brooke Borneman) McCarroll and Tracey (Ryan) Olle; and cousins, Cameron & Cassidy Lindley, Oliver & Clark Hartley, Miranda Denner and Liam Olle.
Brooks was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Mac & Marguerite McCarroll and Duane & Helen Snee; and paternal great-grandparents, Darryl Weishaar and Beulah Postol.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Northview Church, 12900 Hazel Dell Parkway in Carmel, with Pastor Doug Kizer officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road in Noblesville.
