Byron Edward "Ed" Moore

Byron Edward "Eddie" Moore, 78, a long-time resident of Carmel, passed away at home June 4, 2015, after a long illness. His son and favorite niece were at his side. He was born January 24, 1937, in Jackson, Michigan, to Byron and Beatrice (Evans) Moore.
He graduated in 1956 from Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis. He married the former Joann Smith in 1957 and settled in Carmel. They later divorced but remained friends.
Ed's home reflected his love of flowers and cars. He had numerous planters in the front and back, and an eight-car garage, which housed his Towne Car, and two and a half Nash automobiles from the 1950s.
Ed's energy was contagious. He rarely liked to sit down, and literally would come home from work, change, and be out the door. He constantly did things for others, including his mother, for whom he built a home, and tended to her needs for more than 30 years. Ed could have been a comedian or salesman, but he instead chose to work at Ford where he retired in 1991 after over 31 years as a power steering pump final inspector. He also was a regular at the Carmel location of MCL Cafeteria.
Ed seemed to enjoy everything: Pacer games, Charlie Brown and Snoopy, Shirley Bassey and Queen, Longaberger baskets, clipping coupons, going to the movies, talking on the phone, mowing the lawn, and cleaning everyone's gutters. But above all, he loved and worshipped Jesus Christ, and was a member of Grace Community Church.
Ed is survived by his beloved son, Ed, (Elizabeth) Moore, and granddaughter, Laura, of Westfield; special niece, Louise Bracken of Indianapolis; nieces, Judy K. Moore, of Warsaw, Indiana, and Karil Zurakowski of Shelby Township, Michigan; nephews, Clay and Scott Robinson; special friends, Charlotte Mckinzie, and Chuck & Crystal Vanmeter of Carmel; sister, Lynn (Mike) Robinson of Cumberland, Indiana; and scores and scores of friends and acquaintances.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Zurakowski.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to Dr. Mary Walsh and her office for their great care of Ed over the past 20 years.
Cryptside Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at Crown Hill Community Mausoleum, 700 West 38th Street, in Indianapolis, with Pastor Tim Ayers officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 9, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Leppert Mortuary and Crematory Services, Carmel Chapel, 900 N. Rangeline Road, in Carmel.
Ed's care has been entrusted to Randall & Roberts Funeral Homes, Noblesville.
In remembrance of Ed, "Get off the davenport, go plant some flowers, and clean your gutters. Live each day to the fullest, and do something nice for someone else."
