Carol Jeanne (Sandheinrich) Daubenspeck

June 5, 1943 - August 16, 2024

Carol J. Daubenspeck, 81, of Fort Myers, FL, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2024, at Riverview Health Hospital in Noblesville, IN, where she birthed and was surrounded by her loving daughters.

Carol was born in St. Libory, IL, on June 5, 1943, as the third of five children to Hugo and Christine (nee Theismann) Sandheinrich. She married Jon Bruce Daubenspeck at the US Naval Station in Norfolk, VA on August 6, 1963, before settling down to raise their children in Noblesville, IN. In the second half of her life, Carol relocated to Southwest Florida where she would spend the remainder of her career employed by various financial institutions throughout Lee County. Like the rest of her family, Carol was a hardworking individual and voracious reader who emphasized the importance of family, faith, education, and community service. Because of this, she always tried to facilitate these types of opportunities to enrich the lives of her loved ones.

Upon her retirement, Carol kept herself busy by being an active member at the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord, being the lead statistician for her family’s co-rec softball league and participating in the extracurricular activities of her grandchildren. She also looked forward to hosting her siblings every year in the spring where they would share stories, play cards, and gamble at the local casinos.

Carol was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Hugo and Christine Sandheinrich; her big brother, James (Judith) Sandheinrich; her baby brother, Thomas Sandheinrich; her brothers-in-law, Eugene Mueller and Robert Bauer; and her youngest daughter, Tina Daubenspeck (Edward Epstein). She is survived by her sisters, Shirley Mueller, Ann Bauer, and her sister-in-law, Darlene Sandheinrich and their families; her daughters, Susan McElfresh, Debra (Randy) Rainbolt, and April (Brian Ranker) Ward; and finally by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Zachary (Allison) Ward (William and Jonah), Timothy and Cassandra McElfresh, Rachel (Jeff Crafton) Rainbolt (Morgan), Sarah (Joseph) Pecoraro (Emma and Marco), and Chloe (Colin Madden) Daubenspeck (Tallulah due in January 2025).

A mass will be offered with intentions for Carol in her hometown of St. Liborius Catholic Church on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 5pm (CT) with a celebration of life reception to follow in the community center for family and friends. Carol will be laid to rest in Spring 2025 at the Resurrection Memorial Gardens following a private mass in the chapel led by Reverend Monsignor Stephen E. McNamara, V.G., V.F. and Father Oliver Toner. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to general fund at the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord.
