Caroline "Ginsel" Haverstick

Caroline "Ginsel" Haverstick, 92, of Fishers, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Bickford of Carmel. She was born on March 27, 1932 in Terrace Park, Ohio, where she lived until she attended and graduated from Butler University in 1954. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and stayed in touch with her sorority sisters throughout the years.

Ginsel met her husband, George E. Haverstick, in Indianapolis where they made their home and raised their three daughters.

Ginsel was a loving mother who enjoyed gardening, especially tending to her beloved rose bushes. She was known for her prized cucumbers and tomatoes. She loved cheering for her beloved Cincinnati Reds and Butler Bulldogs, and pretty much anything else sports related.

She was known affectionately by her four grandchildren as Nana. She loved and cherished them unconditionally. Nana lived to babysit, visit and vacation with them, and loved to travel when loved ones lived far away. She took care of them whenever called upon. They were her pride and joy.

She is survived by her three daughters, Caroline Curry, Nancy (John) Clingman, Lorna (Andy) Mohr; four grandchildren, Lindsay (Kyle) Brookey, Drew (Lexi) Mohr, Sam Mohr, and Stephanie Curry; one great-granddaughter, Collins Brookey; as well as several nieces & nephews and their families.

In addition to her parents, Lowell and Anna (Robertson) Barnett, Ginsel was preceded in death by her husband, George Earl Haverstick; brother, Bill (Lucy) Barnett; her sister, Ruthie (Bobby) Davidson; and nephew, Michael Grossman.

Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 20, 2024 at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road, in Fishers. Burial will be at a later date in Union Chapel Cemetery in Indianapolis.

The family would like to thank the loving staff at Bickford of Carmel for their wonderful care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Indiana University School of Medicine to support Indiana Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (https://medicine.iu.edu/research-centers/alzheimers). Make memorial gifts payable to IU Foundation, and mail to IU Foundation, PO Box 7072, Indianapolis, IN, 46207-7072, or the charity of your choice.
