Carolyn Stern, 84, of Noblesville, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Wellbrooke of Westfield. She was born on September 4, 1931 to Claude and Ruth (McClure) Hardgrove in Akron, Ohio.
Carolyn lived in Noblesville over 70 years, and was a 40-year member of Refuge Christian Church, where she played piano & organ, and served in the Christian Women's Fellowship, the church choir, and ladies' bible study. She was a lover of music, sports, and the arts, and enjoyed playing cards, bowling, traveling, and good food. Carolyn sang with Billy Gaither & the Gaither Choirs, was a board member of and volunteered at Riverview Hospital, and was Chairman of the Board for Easter Seals and Hamilton County Society for the Disabled for 40 years. She sang with the Silver Notes for over 50 years, and was also a greeter at Randall & Roberts. Carolyn's faith in God sustained her though her many years of widowhood.
She is survived by her son, Roger Stern, and his fiancé, Diane Crook. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death in 1984 by her husband, James D. Stern; brother, Richard Hardgrove; and sister, Charlotte Hardgrove.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street, in Noblesville, with visitation 11:00 am to the time of service. Rev. Stanley R. Sutton will officiate. Burial will be at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
