Cecilia "Celia" Buis

Cecilia (Celia) Joyce Buis, 85, of Noblesville, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. Celia was born on April 6, 1928 to Major John Walter Saunders M.B.E. and Theresa Lillian (Daniels) Saunders in Felixstowe, England. Celia met the love of her life, Howard A. Buis during World War II, and they were married 65 years until Howard's passing in 2011.
Celia had worked as an administrative assistant for St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis; however, she will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and nanny. Her many interests included service to Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church as a member of the Choir, the Altar Rosary Society and as a Eucharistic minister. Other interests included cheering on the Pacers and Colts teams, crosswords, playing the piano and attending grandchildren's activities.
Celia is survived by her children, Julie Ertel (Gary), Trish Berry (Jerry), John Buis (Christy), Carolyn Crawley (Gene), Ed Buis (Nancy), Theresa Abbott (Chuck), Anne White (Jim), Lisa Spencer (Tom), Christine Hummel (Steve); and 90 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Tess Saunders Holden.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 17, 2014, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 9900 East 191st Street, in Noblesville, with Father Tom Metzger officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the service in the gathering space of the church. There will be a meal immediately following the service in the Community Room at the church. Burial will be at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery in Indianapolis.
