82, born April 22, 1929 in Sidney, OH, to Frank and Wynona Abbott and died August 8, 2011.
Charles graduated from Sidney High School in 1947 and Ohio State University in 1952.
After serving in the Air Force for 4 years, he continued his education and received his Masters Degree from Cornell University in 1958, and his doctorate in Education from Michigan State University in 1968.
He worked in the area of education for 20 years as a teacher, and in college administration. IN 1972, he began his career with State Farm Insurance Corporate Headquarters in Bloomington, IL, as Director of Agency Management Development and retired in 1992.
Charles' grandchildren were the joy of his life. In retirement, he owned a small business and enjoyed playing golf.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Phyllis; children, Pamela (Gary) Willke, and Jeff (Lori) Abbott; grandchildren, Amanda, Jenna & Jack Willke, and Leah & Lydia Abbott; sister, Frances (Bill) Swallow; Aunt, Ruth Stevenson; Niece, Karen (David) Schutze; Nephews, Ken (Linda) Draving, and Rick Swallow; brothers-in-law, Lee Draving & Harold Halderman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Draving; and Nephew, Randy Swallow.
A Memorial Service will be held at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville, IN, with Rev. David Hewitt officiating on Saturday, August 13th, with visitation from 11:00 to noon. Funeral service will be at noon at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
