Charles D. Merideth, 91, of Noblesville, passed away June 29, 2014.
He was an invaluable member of the community from an early age. He developed a love for the game of golf while caddying at Forrest Park Golf Course. His golf career lasted nearly 65 years and included several city tournament wins. He was the manager at the A & P grocery store and after retiring he opened Aunt Bee's restaurant which served some of the best fried chicken in Hamilton County. The iconic rooster statue still stands in front of the former restaurant.
As the president of the town council, he became mayor of Noblesville for two days in 1959 after the residing mayor passed unexpectedly. Charlie donated his hard earned money to a variety of charities; most notably Gleaners Food Bank. The world lost one of the most honest people you might ever have met; God gained a great angel.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years Suzanne Merideth, daughter Sharon Dashiell, grandchildren Julie and Marc, and 5 great grandchildren.
