Charles A. Moon, 86, of Naples, FL, formerly of Cicero, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at St. Vincent Kokomo. He was born on January 11, 1931 to Albert and Monell (Conley) Moon in Hamilton County, Indiana.
Charlie was a 1949 graduate of Walnut Grove High School, and proudly served his country in the United States Marines during the Korean War. He married LaDonna Webb on July 30, 1950. Charlie retired in 1980 after thirty years with Firestone Industrial Products. He served as Fire Chief of White River Fire Department. Charlie also farmed, coached Little League, and drove a school bus for Hamilton Heights. He was a member of Omega Christian Church where he taught Sunday School, worked on the church board, and served as an elder. In his later years, after moving to Florida, Charlie worked at Fox Fire Country Club. He enjoyed golfing and was a good neighbor. Most of all, Charlie loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, Dan (Tina) Moon; sisters, Esther White and Lillian Tidwell; grandchildren, April Beeson and Melissa Smith; great-grandchildren, Torrie Smith, Madyson Smith and Robert Williams; and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, LaDonna; his brother, Walter; and sisters, Frances Hughes and Doris Beaver.
Graveside Rites will be held at a later date. The Moon family has entrusted Randall and Roberts Funeral Homes with Charlie's care.
