Charles Maris Oldham (Noblesville, Indiana)
Just a few weeks ago, Charlie was leading a Bible study on the topic of Heaven. On Dec. 18, 2012, he experienced his journey into God's Kingdom of Heaven just in time for his birthday.
Charlie was born on Dec. 24, 1939, to Doel and Marie (Maris) Oldham in Seymour, IN. He grew up in Martinsville and graduated from Martinsville High School in 1957. He married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Wise, in 1963. They moved to Ft. Riley, KS, where he served two years in the Army. They have lived in Noblesville for the past 36 years.
He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1962 with a degree in architecture. He was a principle partner in Lennox Oldham Matthews (LOM) and later established his own company, Oldham and Associates (OAI). To this day, many towns, cities and neighborhoods include office buildings, hospitals, schools, churches, hotels and homes that reflect his talents.
Charlie was a faithful servant and a longtime member of the Noblesville First United Methodist Church. He sang in the Chancel Choir, led Bible study, and served on the Finance, Trustees and Building Committees. Among his many interests were golfing with friends and family; working in the yard; traveling; and enjoying a beautiful sunrise every time he could, especially in Seagrove Beach, FL, where he and Nancy loved to spend their winters as "snowbirds."
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carolyn (Oldham) Major. He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Wise) Oldham, sons Brad (Stacey) Oldham and Brian (Jill) Oldham, and daughter Susan (Paul) Higginbotham. He adored and was adored by his seven grandchildren: Mallory, Molly and Matthew Oldham; Kyle and Evan Oldham; Ethan and Grace Higginbotham.
Visitation is Friday, Dec. 21, 4-7 p.m. at Randall & Roberts on Westfield Rd. in Noblesville. Services are planned for Saturday, Dec. 22, 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Noblesville. Memorial contributions can be directed to First United Methodist Church of Noblesville, 2051 Monument Street, Noblesville, IN 46060, or the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org/donate). Blood donations to the Indiana Regional Blood Center in Charlie's memory would be welcome.
The family thanks the many friends and relatives who have supported them through his illness, as well as the staff and doctors at both Riverview and St. Vincent hospitals for their loving care.
