Charlotte Dean Wiggins Long died Saturday, March 18, 2017 at The Hearth at Windermere located in Fishers, IN. She was 95. She was born on December 8, 1921 in Vonore, Tennessee.
Charlotte attended Sweetwater High School in Sweetwater, TN. She was awarded an athletic scholarship to Hiwassee College in Madisonville, TN, where she played basketball and ran track, graduating in 1942. On June 3, 1950, Charlotte married Edgar Lake Long, in Sweetwater. After his graduation from the University of Tennessee in 1952, they moved to Indianapolis, IN where they lived until 1997. She retired in 1986 from the Internal Revenue Service in Indianapolis where she was a group secretary for thirteen years. In 1997, Charlotte and Ed moved to The Villages, FL where they enjoyed a great retirement among new friends. Charlotte moved back to the Indianapolis area in 2008 after her husband's death in 2004, where she resided at The Hearth at Windermere in Fishers, IN until her passing. Charlotte was active in the Cub and Boy Scouts, Bluebirds, PTA, and her church. She enjoyed playing bridge, bowling, bingo, rummikub and bocce. Charlotte was an avid crossword puzzle fan. She will be greatly missed.
Charlotte is survived by her three children, Robert Edgar (Anita), Jeffrey Scott (Karen), and Pamela Lynne. Four grandchildren, Robert Gordon, Elizabeth Victoria, Forrest Harrison, and Sarah Rebecca brought her much joy.
A graveside service is to be held at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL on March 27th at 1:30 pm.
