Diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in 2005, Claire Ellen (Jourdan) Green died in Tampa, FL, on February 20, 2011.
The first child of Cecil J. Jourdan and Dorothea G. (DeClaire) Jourdan, Claire was born on August 9, 1943, in Detroit, MI. She graduated from Grosse Pointe High School in 1961 and took a job with the JC Penney accounting department in Dallas, TX. On May 29, 1971, she married Larry Eugene Green, and in 1974 they returned to Claire's hometown of Grosse Pointe Woods (GPW), MI, where she cared for her ailing parents and took a job with the GPW War Memorial. In 1984, they moved to Noblesville, IN, where Claire worked for Country Children's House Montessori Preschool and served as a bookkeeper for her husband's retail store. She enjoyed PTA work throughout her daughter's school years and volunteered at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, visiting shut-ins, participating in the church prayer chain, assembling Sunday bulletins, and organizing a gift-giving tree for a needy family every Christmas. She and Larry moved to Tampa, FL, in 2010. Endowed with the gift of presence, Claire was a great listener who brought comfort to others with her understanding and her loyal friendship.
Preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Dorothea, she is survived by her husband Larry, her brother and sister-in-law William and Sue Jourdan of Noblesville, IN, and her daughter and son-in-law Shannon and Samuel Bloomquist of Indianapolis, IN.
Calling hours from 9am-11am followed immediately by a memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Randall and Roberts Funeral Home, 12010 Allisonville Rd., Fishers, IN 46038. Claire will be inurned at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis.
