Clarence E. Conaway Jr., 78, of Indianapolis, IN passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Riverwalk Village in Noblesville. Clarence had been in failing health for the past two years. He was born on February 2, 1936 to Clarence E. and Zelma Mae (Donahue) Conaway Sr in Bloomington, Ohio. He lived most of his life in Indianapolis, IN.
Clarence was a 1953 graduate of Bloomington (OH) High School and had also attended Wilmington College in Wilmington, OH. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy. He loved music, and while at Wilmington College, he sang in a quartet which appeared on TV. His dedication and love for music was also evident with his involvement at his beloved church. He also was an avid sports fan, and played basketball, baseball and softball.
He is survived by three sisters, Wanda Taylor, Opal (Bill) Anderson and Ruby Kingery, all of Washington Court House, OH; two brothers, Robert Conaway of Washington Court House, OH and Stan (Peg) Conaway of Mt. Sterling, OH; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Ruby Faysal and Antoinette Denny both of Indianapolis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Orville, Alfred and Bill; and two sisters, Frances and Jeannie.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 4, 2014 in the Chapel of the Veteran's Cemetery, 1415 North Gate Road, Madison, IN. An additional memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Pleasant View Baptist Church, 825 S. 11th St, Noblesville, IN 46060.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his church, Pleasant View Baptist Church, PO Box 292, Noblesville, IN 46060.
