After a 26 year battle with cancer, Cynthia "Cindy" Ann Haskell of Westfield, IN, died on November 13, 2014, at St. Vincent Hospital - 86th Street in Indianapolis. She was 68 years old.
Cindy was born on September 1, 1946 in Toledo, Ohio, to father James Pilliod and mother Betty (Towns) Pilliod, who predeceased her. She grew up in a very loving family with two sisters and one brother in Swanton, Ohio where she graduated from Swanton High School in 1964. Following her passion for caring for others, she was the first of her family to attend college and in 1967 she graduated from Maumee Valley Hospital School of Nursing where she received an academic scholarship and graduated with honors. Immediately following graduation from Maumee Valley, she began working in the nursing field and helped launch and worked at one of the first kidney dialysis programs in Toledo. In 1981 she worked with Carmel Mayor Jane Reiman and a colleague to implement much needed paramedic services for the growing City of Carmel. For a total of 46 years she provided care and compassion as a Registered Nurse, with the past 37 years working exclusively at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis before retiring in 2013.
Cindy married Jon Haskell on January 28, 1967 in Wauseon, Ohio. They lived in Ohio and Missouri until moving to Indiana in 1977 where they lived and raised their two sons. Her joys were her grandchildren, spending time with family and friends, growing flowers, horseback riding, and being involved in her sons extra-curricular activities including scouting, sports and band. She was also a long time member of King of Glory Lutheran Church and Rivers of the World charitable organization.
She leaves behind her husband of 47 years, Jon Haskell; sons, Aaron (Joleen) Haskell, grandson Henry of Westfield, IN, and Ben (Yennie) Haskell, granddaughter Lilianna and grandson Rocco of Westfield, IN; brother, Jeff (Pat) Pilliod of Swanton, OH; sisters, Frannell (Norman) Pancoast of Swanton, OH and Dianne (Patrick) Westhoven of Swanton, OH, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
