Kenneth Dale 'Diz' Hammack, 86, Noblesville, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2009 at Riverwalk Village in Noblesville. He was born in Sheridan, IN on May 30, 1922 to Glenn and Dolly Mae (Van Cleve) Hammack, and remained a life-long resident of Hamilton County.
Dale graduated from Sheridan High School in 1940, where football was his passion. He married Bettie Jane Wiseman on May 9, 1942.
Dale served in the U.S. Navy during WWII where he was trained to become a machinist. He ended his career as a machinist, working at Firestone Industrial Products in Noblesville for 38 years.
Dale's father died when he was seven years old, making him a strong and dedicated son to his mother and siblings. He treasured his children and they valued his advice. He was a past member of the First Presbyterian Church in Noblesville; the Noblesville Eagles Lodge; and was a life-member of the Masonic Lodge #57 in Noblesville. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending winters in Florida with his wife and friends.
Dale will be greatly missed by his wife of 66 years, Bettie Jane; daughters, Sandra (Larry) Wilson of Carmel, and Susan (Thomas) Brown of Princeton, NJ; son, Michael (Mary Jo) Hammack of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Laura Stokes Thompson, Matthew Stokes, Jason Brown, Christine Brown Cheng, Aaron Brown, Jared Hammack, Jessica Hammack, and Jon Hammack; great-grandchildren, Madeline, Sylvia, Noah, Charlotte, Emma, and Oliver; and sisters, Marie Apple of Sheridan, and Lois Newbold of California.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Russell Brown; brother, Clifford Hammack; and sister, Emma Allen.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 from 5:00 to 8:00PM at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home in Noblesville. Services will be held on Thursday, January 8 at 11:00AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
