Dallas Guilkey, 91, formerly of Noblesville, passed away Friday, November 22, 2013 at Olympics West Retirement Community, in Tumwater, WA. He was born on May 7, 1922 in Noblesville, IN to Arza and Orpha (Gaverick) Guilkey.
He was married to Betty (Unum) Guilkey, she precedes him in death. He served in the United States Army during WWII, stationed on the Aleutian Island of Attu in Alaska. He worked for Mid Mountain Construction for over 30 years, and had worked on the Alaskan pipeline. Being a member of the Masons, he recently became a lifetime member of the Tanana Lodge in Alaska. He found a hobby that he really enjoyed, and built several pieces of beautiful furniture. Dallas never met a stranger. He was a senior companion and delivered meals on wheels in Elma, WA. He became a good friend to many and was always willing to help.
He is survived by his daughters, Nancy Brule', and Vicki Gearin; grandchildren, Pfc. Nicholas Brule', Sarah Brule', Shaun and Katie Gearin; and five sisters, Phyllis Mendenhall, Harriet Wise, Pat Paskins, Ruth Stoops, and Barbara Lawson, all of Noblesville, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Carrol, Roland, and Max Guilkey.
Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Mills and Mills Funeral Home, 5725 Littlerock Road SW, Tumwater, WA 98512 with Dale Amundson officiating, a graveside service will follow. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Friday, November 29, 2013 at the funeral home. A celebration of life will be held at the family home, 6703 Lazy Street SW, in Olympia following the service.
