Daniel Paul Rubsam, 67, of Clayton, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, and is now wrapped in the arms of his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. He was born on July 12, 1947 to Paul and Catherine "Kay" (Seger) Rubsam in Effingham, Illinois.
Dan was a 1966 graduate of Newton High School in Newton, IL, and graduated from Lockyear Business College in Evansville with a degree in Business. For over 30 years, Dan was self-employed as a manufacturing rep for many companies selling handbags and accessories. He was an active member of St. Susanna Catholic Church, and was a humble gentleman who was kind-hearted to everyone he knew. Dan was an avid Indianapolis Colts, St. Louis Cardinals, and Chicago Bears fan, and enjoyed gardening and fishing with family and friends. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and the grandchildren, who were fondly referred to as the "Nifty Nine". Dan was a very devoted, loving and supportive husband to Treva (Myerholtz) Marcum-Rubsam, whom he married in Noblesville on September 24, 2005.
Dan is survived by his wife, Treva; mother, Kay Rubsam; step-son, Kirk (Shelley) Marcum; step-daughter, Nicole (Ched) Mobley; step-daughter, Tiffany (JC) Shorb; step-son, Karl (Stephanie) Marcum; brother, John (Karen) Rubsam; sister, Barb (Steve) Schulte; brother, Dave (Debbie) Rubsam; sister, Tricia (Tony) Schlanser; brother, Glen (Vicki) Rubsam; nine grandchildren, Tyler & Riley Marcum, Joel & Seth Mobley, Oren Shorb, and Zac, Kirstyn, Brayden & Layne Marcum; as well as several nieces & nephews.
In addition to his father, Dan was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Mel Zumbahlen; and sister-in-law, Barb Rubsam.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Noon on Friday, June 5, 2015, at St. Susanna Catholic Church, 1210 E. Main Street, in Plainfield, with Rev. Glenn O'Connor of St. Susanna and Pastor Charlie Wilfong of Plainfield United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, June 4, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street, Noblesville, with an additional visitation 2 hours prior to Mass at the church on Friday. Burial will be at Clayton Cemetery in Clayton, IN.
