David Francis

David Francis, 77, of Noblesville, died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, February 4, 2015. He was born on July 31, 1937 to Richard and Elizabeth Francis in Noblesville, Indiana.
David graduated from Elwood High School and proudly served in the United States Navy. He was employed at Guide Lamp as a Supervisor for 29 years, retiring in 1992. Following retirement, David was heavily involved in racing. He enjoyed being a part of his sons' racing hobbies. David's son, JD Francis, raced every weekend for the last twenty years, and David only missed two races during that time. He was known at the Dirt Race tracks as PR. Every racer he met absolutely loved talking with him. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish. This summer, David and his best friend of 51 years, Jim Roy, spent a weekend fishing in Grand Rapids, Michigan with his son Kevin, son JD, and Jim's son-in-law, Rick Geils. Above all, David was a family man. He adored his sons Jon David Francis and Kevin Francis. He will be dearly missed and forever celebrated by a loving family and many friends.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Francis, to who he was united in marriage on January 29, 1977; children, Jon David (Camille) Francis, and Kevin Francis; and grandchildren, Madysen Francis and Colleen Cummings. Brothers Richard and Robert Francis also survive. David also helped raise Anthony, Matthew and Kevin Ammerman, his nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenny, Don, and twin brother Dale Francis; and the recent death of his nephew, Matthew Ammerman, who was killed in Afghanistan.
The family wants to give a special thank-you to Stacy & Becky of Guardian Angels Hospice for David's recent care.
Friends and family will gather on Saturday, February 14, 2015, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Fishers Conference Center, 9775 North by Northeast Blvd, Fishers, IN.
A private family service was held on February 5, 2015 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center.
