David Harold Moran

David Harold Moran, 68, of Westfield, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016 in Noblesville. He was born on May 29, 1947 to Harold Norton Jr and Mary Catherine (Lyday) Moran in Indianapolis.
David was a lifelong resident of Westfield, and was a 1965 graduate of Westfield High School, where he was a proud member of the Shamrock football team. He received his bachelor's degree from Butler University and was career military, having proudly served his country with the U.S. Army Charlie Company 3rd/22nd, 25th Infantry and the Department of Defense, both from which he was retired. He received many awards during his career, including a Combat Infantryman Badge, two Purple Hearts, a Silver Star, a Bronze Star and an Army Commendation Medal with Valor. In the late 80's, he and a friend pooled their money to purchase equipment and uniforms to establish a youth football program in Westfield. For well over a decade, he took great pride in molding young Shamrocks in the sports of basketball, baseball, and his true passion, football. He was honored to have had a positive impact on these children through his coaching endeavors.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Rebecca Moran; children, Robert J. (Amanda) Moran, Thaddeus H. Moran and Molly R. Moran; three grandchildren, Isaiah London, Ty Moran and Aidan Moran; and four sisters, Gloria (Dwight) Smith, Donna (Bruce) Musselman, Cheryl (Larry) Bender and Carol (Warren) Clymer-Berg.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, March 21, 2016 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road in Noblesville with visitation beginning at 11:00 am prior to the service.
