Don Janowski, 76, of Fishers, passed away in the late afternoon of Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at his home. He was born on January 18, 1940 to the late Albert and Emily (Ciolkosz) Janowski in Moline, Illinois.
Don was a 1958 graduate of United Township High School (UTHS) of East Moline, where he played football and participated in band with his favorite instrument, the trombone. Following high school, he attended Southern Illinois University, and then proudly served his country in the US Army.
Don loved many things; his family, going on cruises, the Four Freshmen and other classic jazz groups, the Colts, IU sports, and his cabin in southern Indiana. His passion, however, was in motorsports, which was a lifelong love affair. Don raced a number of different types of race cars over the years, until he found kart racing in the mid 1970's. Through karting, Don enjoyed competing and ultimately founded two successful businesses that allowed him to live his passion on a daily basis. His legacy and impact on the sport of karting continue as both companies still exist and thrive.
Don is survived by his wife, Susan Kaye Janowski; son, Joe (Autumn) Janowski; daughter, Annie (Daniel) Rott; four grandchildren, Mason Janowski, Nixon Ewers, Lily Ewers, and Lainey Rott; three brothers, Len (Yvonne) Janowski, Ken (Lori) Janowski, and Jim (Judie) Janowski; as well as several nieces & nephews.
