Donald L. Hawk, 89, of Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, November 22, 2010 at Castleton Health Care in Indianapolis. He was born on February 20, 1921 to Lon and Ada (Valette ) Hawk in Chillicothe, Ohio.
Don was a WWII Army veteran who served in the Pacific Theater. After the war he was a machine operator for E & I DuPont Corporation at the Circleville, OH plant for 30 years, retiring in 1982. Since 2007 he lived with his son Jeff and daughter-in-law Jenny in Indianapolis. He was a current member of St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church in Fishers, where he was a member of St. Anne's Guild and was a third-degree Knight of the Father Thomas J. Kelly Council Knights of Columbus. Formerly, he had been a member St. Mary Parish in Chillicothe, OH. He was a member of Castleton Kiwanis Club. He was a "people person" who never knew a stranger.
He is survived by son, Jeff (Jenny) Hawk of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Donald (Michelle) Hawk & Jeanne (Nicholas) Carter; seven great-grandchildren; and Tilly, his beloved wire-haired terrier.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Regina (Breen) Hawk; and brother, Eugene Hawk.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, November 26, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church in Fishers, with calling beginning at 10:00 AM. Rev. Phil Haslinger will officiate. An additional Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church in Chillicothe, OH with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at St. Margaret's Cemetery in Chillicothe, OH.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Augustine's Home for the Aged, 2345 West 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46260 and/or St. Vincent de Paul, 1355 S. 10th Street, Noblesville, IN 46060.
