Doris Amick Roush, 92, of Noblesville, passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Harbour Manor Care Center in Noblesville. She was born on August 11, 1921 to Guy and Bertha (Brisentine) Amick in Tipton, Indiana.
Doris was a graduate of Anderson High School and attended Anderson Business College. She worked for several years at the Gospel Trumpet before becoming co-owner with her husband, Dow, of the Amick Monument Company. Doris and Dow worked together for 40 years and loved spending time with friends playing bridge and various other card games, and entertaining. They were members of Edgewood Country Club and enjoyed playing golf and the social activities. Doris was a member of Edgewood Ladies Golf Group, OLGA, Anderson Art League, Jo March Club, and various card clubs. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and was an accomplished artist.
The family has many fond memories of time spent in Siesta Key, FL, with friends from Anderson. Doris was a woman of amazing strength, and maintained a smile and positive attitude through the very end of her life. Doris' family would like to thank all of the nurses and staff at Harbour Manor for their loving and tender care. Doris spent her final days in the skilled care of Harbour Light Hospice, and the family is very thankful for the assistance in making her passing peaceful.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane E. Cade of Noblesville; grandson, Cory B. Cade of Noblesville; great-grandson, Landon Cade; and sister, Ruth Ann Rector of Anderson.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death in 2009 by her beloved husband, Dow E. Roush, whom she married on November 10, 1943.
Services will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, August 10, 2014, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, in Noblesville, with visitation from 2:00 pm until the time of service. Pastor John Davis will officiate.
