Dorris M. Tirey, 91, of Westfield, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2011 at her home. She was born on March 20, 1920 to Clyde and Dora (Jenkins) Burris in Tipton, Indiana.
Dorris co-founded and owned Acme Technical Institute in the late 1950's. Also, co-owned and operated GeeNee Restaurant from 1969 to 1979. She was a life long member of Hortonville United Methodist Church, and was an avid bowler.
She is survived by three daughters: Denise Tirey (husband, Stephen) Cox; Michele Glenn Byers, and Marsha Glenn (husband, Mike) Robinson; three sons: Paul L. Tirey, II; Rick Tirey; and Dan Tirey; brother, Richard (wife, Peggy) Burris; plus many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul L. Tirey on May 31, 1987; a son, Max Glenn; two brothers and six sisters.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 1, 2011, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, in Noblesville, with Pastor Pete O'Hara officiating. Visitation will also be held Friday, July 1, 2011 prior to the service beginning at 9:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will be at Chester Friends Cemetery in Westfield.
