Dr. John “Rip” W. Shellcroft II, 76, of Noblesville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Harbour Manor Care Center in Noblesville. He was born on February 13, 1948 to William “Bill” and Angela (Evans) Shellcroft in South Charleston, West Virginia.

John graduated Valedictorian of his senior class of 1966 at Louisa High School in Kentucky. He received a full scholarship to play football for the Thundering Herd at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. John attended medical school at the University of Pittsburgh. He performed his internship and residency at Washington DC VA Medical Center and Georgetown University.

After receiving his medical license, John served in the United States Air Force as a flight physician. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Major.

John had an internal medical practice serving the Victor Valley, California area. He was the first African American doctor to serve the Victor Valley area. 

John was preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his son, Chris Shellcroft (46); daughter-in-law, Dana Shellcroft (43); sister, Karen Shellcroft (78); brother, Kevin Shellcroft (69); granddaughters, Zenna Shellcroft (8) and Omni Shellcroft (4); and his former spouse of 35 years, Theresa Shellcroft (79).

Private family services with military honors will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Noblesville, Indiana.
