Dr. Russell Michael McQuay, Jr., 90, of Carmel, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2011 at St. Vincent Hospice in Indianapolis. He was born on September 6, 1921 to Russell Michael and Helen (Eede) McQuay in Olean, New York.
Russell was a Parasitologist in the field of microbiology at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Chicago, IL from 1952-1986. He earned his PhD in Parasitology from Tulane Medical School in New Orleans. He was an adjunct faculty member of Presbyterian St. Luke's Hospital and Northwestern Medical Center in Chicago. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution & Grace Community Church in Noblesville; and was a WWII Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Jean McQuay; daughter, Paula (Daniel) McQuay Reitsma; son, Kam (Deb) McQuay; and two grandchildren, Kendall & Morgan McQuay.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Emma Parry.
Services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, December 2, 2011, at Grace Community Church, 5504 East 146th Street, in Noblesville, with Pastor David Rodriguez officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, December 1, 2011 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville. Additional visitation will be held at the church on Friday beginning at 9:00 am prior to the service. Burial will be at Union Lutheran Cemetery in Zionsville.
