Genelle Koenig, 74, of Fishers, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at her home. She was born on January 26, 1940 to Byron and Edith (Harper) Trexler in Charleston, Illinois. Her parents preceded her in death.
Genelle received a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Illinois University, and taught music for an elementary school for a few years. She taught private piano & voice for most of her career, and was a highly sought-after music teacher and music contest adjudicator. Genelle attended Hamilton Hills Baptist Church, enjoyed traveling (especially in the family RV), and loved her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Koenig; son, Kurt (Mary) Koenig; daughter, Jeanette Koenig; son, Eric (Heather) Koenig; brother, William Trexler; three grandchildren, Ellyana, Alexandra, and Tayla Koenig; and cousin, Jan Legg.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 27, 2014, at Hamilton Hills Baptist Church, 10293 East 126th Street, in Fishers, with Pastor Doug Baker officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, September 27, 2014 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road, Fishers.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana State School Music Association, Inc. (ISSMA, Inc.), 100 E. Thompson Road, Indianapolis, IN 46227.
