Edith "Edie" Leet

Edith M. 'Edie' Leet, of Indianapolis, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at Prairie Lakes Health Campus in Noblesville. She was born on September 9, 1929 to Carl and Edith (Gammon) Sorgen in Detroit, MI.
Edie loved her family dearly; her five daughters and their families meant the world to her. She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of over 50 years, Robert 'Bob' Leet in 1998. In addition to family time, they enjoyed many years of traveling together. After his passing, Edie completed their quest to visit all fifty of the United States in 2009.
Edie was a leader in the community, having served on the Devonshire II & IV Residential Association board for 40 years. She was a role model for young women, encouraging strength and independence, exemplified by her 25+ years volunteering as a Girl Scout leader. She ultimately earned the 'Thanks Badge', which honors an individual whose ongoing commitment, leadership, and service have had an exceptional, measurable impact on the entire Girl Scout movement. Edie was proud of her heritage as a Daughter of the American Revolution. She had a passion for dancing, with memberships in Continental Dance Club, Still Kickin', Indy Dancers, Indy B 'N' B Square and Round Dance Club and Oasis. Her memberships at Castleton and Lawrence United Methodist Churches were meaningful to her, and her faith in God sustained her through her illness.
Edie is survived by her daughters, Susan (Scott) Albertson, Cindy (Bruce) Turrie, Kim (Jim) Ramsey, Noel (Jon) Jansen, Joette (Tom) Morris; brother, Carl H. Sorgen III; and 13 grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Prairie Lakes Health Campus for their loving care and kindness during her stay. They also extend special appreciation to Dr. Sumeet Bhatia and Dr. Scott Sharp, both of Community Health Network, for their extraordinary care.
The family takes comfort in knowing that she is now dancing forevermore in Heaven.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Castleton United Methodist Church, 7101 N. Shadeland Avenue in Indianapolis, with a Celebration of Life service immediately following.
