Edna Mae Dean

Edna Mae Brunty Dean, 85, of Sheridan, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in the Appalachian area of Earling, West Virginia on June 3, 1931 to parents Alfa "Red" Brunty and Vada (Walls) Brunty.
Edna was a gifted straight-A student who left school to help her family through hardships. She married Carl Franklin Dean in 1951, and moved two years later to Columbus, Ohio, before settling in Indianapolis. Edna was a surrogate mother to every child she knew, and was loved by her entire community. She was a proud member of Evanston Wesleyan Church, and a generous supporter of St. Jude's Hospital. Edna was thrilled to watch her beloved Chicago Cubs win the World Series. Most of all, she touched many loves and was loved by all who knew her.
Edna is survived by her sisters, Linda Osborne, Charlotte O'Neil, Janet Trent, and Shirlene Goodman; brother, Ben Brunty; and children, Frank Dean, Carolyn Lindsay, David Dean, Gary Lindsay, and Kim Wethington.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Dorothy Brunty, Juanita Brunty, Junior Brunty, Roy Brunty, and Ruth Brunty O'Neil; and husband, Carl Franklin Dean in 2002.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road, in Fishers. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at the funeral home, with Rev. Jim Weinmann officiating. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.
