Elmer Holshouser

Elmer H. Holshouser, 97, Noblesville, passed on to eternal life on June 30, 2010. His parents, Grace (Thompson) and John E. Holshouser celebrated his birth and that of his twin sister, Edna, on June 20, 1913 in St. Louis, MO.
During his high school years in Granite City, IL he was president of his senior class and quarterback of the football team. He graduated from a state teachers college in Carbondale, IL which grew to become Southern Illinois University. There, he met his future wife, Helen; was a member of Mu Tau Pi journalistic fraternity; and was vice-president of Sigma Phi Mu pre-medical fraternity. Elmer graduated in the midst of the great depression and had the financial decision of attending medical school or marrying the love of his life, Helen. He married Helen. In World War II he served his country as a research chemist of an Alcoa defense plant. During his 35 year career with the company, he was also a chief chemist and a purchasing agent. His retirement years were spent dabbling in real estate sales, enjoying multiple hobbies and bringing great joy to his family, where he lives on in their hearts.
Elmer is survived by his daughter, Judith H. Anderson; and three grandchildren, Keith Christopher Anderson, Nicole Kathleen (Anderson) Cale and Noel 'Skip' E. Holshouser, Jr.
He is preceded in death by his wife of nearly 70 years, Helen Francis (Hauss) Holshouser; son, Noel E. Holshouser, Sr; and sister, Edna Erlinger.
Services will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 11:00AM at First United Methodist Church, 2051 Monument Street in Noblesville. Friends may call on Monday, July 5, 2010 from 5:00PM - 7:00PM at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street in Noblesville. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Belleville, IL on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 12:00noon (CST).
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital.
