Esther Helen (McMahon) Goodwin, 92, wife of Robert "Goody" Goodwin, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Riverview Health in Noblesville. Esther and Bob were married on June 27, 1942, and were happily married for 73 years. She was born on September 20, 1923 to Martha (Mallery) and Harold McMahon in Noblesville, Indiana.
Esther worked at Sears in downtown Noblesville. She continued this work when the operation took her to Castleton, and she retired from the company after many years of service and accolades for her hard work and exceptional customer service. Esther was a 50-year member of the Eastern Stars. She was also a committed volunteer throughout her life. Esther served as a leader and officer in the Girl Scouts, an officer for the American Quarter Horse Futurity, an officer for Palomino Horse Shows, and was a very active member of the Noblesville Alumni Association. She was once honored as Noblesville Alumna of the year. Esther had a large extended family that was also very important to her. She coordinated the annual family Christmas letter and organized yearly family gatherings. She knew all of the ins and outs of the entire family.
In addition to her husband, Esther is survived by her three children: Pat (Steve) Heiny of Richmond, Stephanie McDonald, of Carmel, and Bob Goodwin Jr. of Noblesville; four grandchildren; Melissa McDonald of Carmel, Curtis Heiny of Columbia, SC, Koren Heiny of Richmond, and Ryan (Janelle) McDonald of Indianapolis; two great grandchildren: Masson Heiny and Oakley McDonald; one brother, Earl Eugene McMahon of Noblesville; and one sister, Mary Jane Cook, also of Noblesville.
"Sis," as she was lovingly called by her siblings, was preceded in death by four siblings: Harold (Bud) McMahon Jr., Phyllis Douglass, Betty Ann Wolverton, and Edward McMahon; as well as her son-in-law, Ray McDonald.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 27, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street, Noblesville. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, September 28 at the funeral home, with an additional visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
