Evan James “Jim” O’Neil, 76, of Noblesville, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. He was born on September 22, 1944 to Evan Jones and Avis (Conklin) O'Neil in Jamaica, New York.
Jim had a long, varied, and successful career in the energy industry after getting a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at Wagner College and a Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering at the University of Missouri. He will be remembered by all as a person who prided himself on his work and on taking care of his family. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. Jim’s personality was infectious, as his many friends can attest. He made any event into a party with his jokes and interesting stories. Above all, he was a wonderful father, husband, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Jim will be missed tremendously.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Regie O'Neil; children, Bert O'Neil (Lauren), Paige Herrington (Jeff), and Creel O'Neil (fianceé, Kyra Mack); 6 grandchildren, Nathan, Lindsay, Nina, Evan, August & Genevie; and his sisters, Gail O'Neil and Marjorie (O’Neil) Taylor.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his first wife Jane, and his third son, Stephen O'Neil.
No public services will be held at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Please contact Bert O’Neil (bertoneil@gmail.com) with questions about the Celebration of Life.
