Evelyn P. Kukolla, 83, passed peacefully October 7, 2012 and is at rest with her Savior. Born in Peoria, Illinois to Vernon A. and Pearl Heyl Parr July 31, 1929, Evelyn was raised with her two sisters, Alta Parr and Jean Schertz in Green Valley, Illinois. She met the love of her life, Joe Kukolla, in 1955. They celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary last summer. She and Joe moved to Indianapolis in 1973 with their three sons.
Evelyn enjoyed finding great recipes and cooking, as well as her career at St. Lawrence School, where she served as school secretary for 14 years. Evelyn loved working with the students and teachers and valued knowing all of the students' names during her tenure. In retirement, she liked seeing her former students and their families grow at church. She retired in 1989 upon the birth of her first grandchild. She was a proud member of St. Lawrence Parish for 39 years. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother and grandmother; all roles she cherished.
Evelyn is survived by her husband Joe; sons Joe (Julie), Steve (Suzanne) and Jim; her grandchildren, Joseph III and Jane Elisabeth; her sisters Alta and Jean; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces/nephews.
Monsignor Mark Svarczkopf will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lawrence Church, Wednesday, October 10 at 11 a.m. Visitation at the church will begin at 10 a.m. Evelyn will be interred at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.
