Everett L. Latham, 93, of Noblesville, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, March 26, 2018 at Harbour Manor Care Center in Noblesville, after enjoying visits from his loving family. He was born on February 28, 1925 to Delmar D. and Helen M. (Sharp) Latham in LeGrand, Iowa. Everett graduated from Dunbar High School (Iowa) with the class of 1943 and earned his BA from William Penn College in 1949. He was united in marriage to Geraldine (Gerry) Williams on June 6, 1948. They lived for a short time in Russiaville, IN before making their home in Noblesville in 1951. Everett began his career in education as a teacher at Federal Hill School in Noblesville. He earned his MA from Butler University in school administration and became the principal at Second Ward and finally at Stony Creek Elementary. In retirement he and Gerry enjoyed over 20 winters in southern Texas. Everett enjoyed travel, reading, woodworking, sports, and writing poetry and had a beautiful singing voice. As an Iowa "farm boy" he was the proud owner of the Latham Family farm in Marshall County, Iowa and was most proud of its Century Farm status having been homesteaded in 1850. Everett delighted in his land and keeping abreast of crop prices and farming trends. He was a very active member and leader in Noblesville Friends Church, Quaker Men, and the Noblesville Noon Kiwanis Club. Everett was a veteran of WWII, serving in Europe and earning two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, and an Infantry Combat Badge. He was thrilled and grateful to have been able to travel to Washington, D.C. in 2015 on an Honor Flight. His family was his delight. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 70 years, Gerry of Noblesville; his children, Carol (Gordon) Bowles of Tampa, FL, Douglas (JoAnn) Latham of Bellevue, IA, and Debra (Clark) Johnson of Oskaloosa, IA; his eight grandchildren, Geoff (Lisa) Bowles, Erin (Jeff) Reynolds, Jessica (Chad) Witter, Gina (Dan) Sargent, Tom Blitgen, Tiffany (Brian) Cue, Grant Johnson, and Meredith (Dominick) Moyer; his nine great-grandchildren, Millen and Pierce Reynolds, Shelby Sargent, Cole and Luke Witter, Ethan and Estella Cue, Vivianne and Theodore Moyer; and dear friends, Bob and Scarlett Minton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Minnie Tatum Latham; a sister, Kathleen Latham Pierson; and three brothers, Art Latham, Harlan Latham and Ernie Latham.
