Frances McCain

Eileen McCain, 89, of Sheridan, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2012 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. She was born on November 1, 1922 to Charles and Ethel (Hobbs) Hobbs in Windfall, Indiana.
Eileen worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for St. Vincent Hospital and earned the Employee of the year award at St. Vincent Hospital in 1982. After retirement from St. Vincent she was a housemother at Alpha Phi Sorority at DePauw University in Greencastle, IN. She was an avid reader and traveled the world. Eileen and her husband owned and operated two grocery stores, McCain's IGA store in Sheridan for forty plus years and the IGA grocery in Lebanon, IN; and she was a member of First Christian Church of Sheridan.
She is survived by daughter, Charleen Porter of Sheridan, IN; son, Kim McCain of Sheridan, IN; brother, Jack Hobbs and two grandchildren, Michelle McCain; Shawn McCain living in North Carolina.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, whom she married June 12, 1941, Charles L. McCain; son, Jon McCain; sister, Loretta Ehman; and brothers, Don and John Hobbs.
A memorial service will be held beginning at 5 pm with the service to start at 6:00 pm on Tuesday April 10th 2012, at First Christian Church of Sheridan, 107 West Third Street, in Sheridan, with Rev. Vernon "VJ" Stover officiating. Burial will be at Crown View Cemetery in Sheridan with a grave side remembrance on Saturday April 21st at 11:00 am.
