A funeral Mass for former Fishers, Indiana, resident Fred Lee Granger will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Noblesville, Indiana. The family will receive guests at 10:30 a.m.
Mr. Granger died November 9, 2020, in Hudsonville, Michigan. He was 78.
The son of Lee and Patricia (Lynch) Granger, he was born March 14, 1942, in Hammond, Indiana, and was raised in Munster, Indiana. In 1956 he attained the rank of Eagle Scout with Boy Scouts of America.
He graduated from Hammond High School in 1960 and from Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana, in 1965.
His early careers were in retail management and small business ownership. He was in his 50s when he became a public school teacher. He spent 16 years teaching AP U.S. history, AP psychology, sociology, geography and economics at Mt. Vernon High School in Fortville, Indiana. He retired from teaching in 2015.
He said teaching was the most important and most rewarding career he’d ever had.
He also assisted his wife Elizabeth, a travel writer, by taking photos “and carrying the suitcases.”
In 1964 he married Suzann Saville. Together they had four children. They divorced in 1990.
In 1993 he married Elizabeth Jacobson.
Mr. Granger is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his four children – Suzann Fine of Fishers, Patricia (Jeffrey) Nichols of Fishers, Fred L. (Stacey) Granger Jr. of Fishers, and Charles Granger of Lebanon, Indiana; two step-children, 10 grandchildren, one step-grandchild, brother, sister, niece and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a niece, and his former wife.
