Gary Lee Rosemary

October 29, 1948 - January 23, 2025

Gary Lee Rosemary, 76, passed away peacefully at his home in Noblesville.

Gary grew up in Plainfield, IN and was involved in the school band, the Plainfield United Methodist Church and Boy Scouts. Gary attended Purdue University, receiving his Bachelor’s Degree. He moved to Michigan where he met, married and started a family with his wife Kathy, later returning to Indiana.

He was forever a boy scout; always prepared, knowledgeable, enjoying the outdoors and inventing creative solutions. Over the years, many friends and family members found themselves appreciative to be camping with him because he either had what you needed or could craft it for you. If you needed a piece of furniture refinished Gary was your man. There are several pieces in his home and in others' homes that he brought back to life.

Music was an ongoing part of his life whether it was playing the saxophone in the high school band or singing in the church choir for the last 30 years. Gary was active with the Belfry Theater; acting, singing or stage managing, frequently putting his boy scout and carpenter skills to good use.

Gary also had a love of trains, whenever he was traveling, a train museum or depot was always on the list of places to see. He was an active member at the Train Club in Kokomo and often set up model trains, especially during the holiday season. Several of his traveling highlights were riding the Canadian Pacific Railway from Toronto to Vancouver as well as train trips from Chicago to San Francisco, Seattle and back. He and Kathy shared many fun adventures and even in later years while staying closer to home, never lost their zest to find interesting things and embrace life.

We know Gary is forever riding the rails in the sky!

Gary is survived by his wife, Kathryn Ann (DeNolf); daughter, Jennifer Lee (Chad) Saalfrank; two granddaughters, Samantha Lee and Cora Rosemary Saalfrank; and sister, Jane (Tom) Iles.

He was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Alan; parents, Francis Lee and Cora Lee (Agee) Rosemary; and sister, Cynthia Anne Rosemary.
